Laizhou, China, August 10, 2024 — The historic "Stone Capital" of China, Laizhou, today announced its grand plans for the upcoming 2024 Laizhou Fitness Hiking Festival and the Second Laizhou Half Marathon, set to take place on September 1. The announcement was made during a press conference held in Beijing, where officials and industry leaders gathered to showcase Laizhou's unique blend of natural beauty, thriving stone industry, and vibrant cultural scene.
"With our rich geological heritage and a thriving stone industry, Laizhou is poised to lead the way in green transformation," said Yang Xiping, Deputy Mayor and Minister of United Front Work Department of Laizhou. "The Fitness Hiking Festival and Half Marathon not only promote healthy lifestyles but also serve as a platform to showcase Laizhou's charm to the world."
The events, centered around the theme "China's Stone Capital Blossoms in Laizhou," will feature three categories: a 5.15KM family hike, a 9.9KM amateur hike, and a 21.0975KM half marathon. The races will traverse scenic routes, showcasing Laizhou's natural beauty and historical landmarks.
Additionally, the 16th Laizhou International Stone Exhibition, themed "Laizhou Stone, Sharing a Winning Future," will run concurrently from September 9 to 11. The exhibition aims to bring together leading stone industry players from across the globe, fostering collaboration and innovation in the sector.
